What are the Legal Implications?

Holders of ROHP and RNCP certificates are members of a legally constituted Not for profit Association. They have the right to provide educational information to their clients about diet and nutritional support for building and maintaining nutritional well-being. They are not permitted to diagnose or prescribe for illness of any kind. All ROHP's and RNCP's must sign a detailed pledge agreeing to perform only those acts which are appropriate to the profession of nutritional consulting. The ROHP and ROHP certificate issued is the property of IONC. It can be revoked for malpractice, for performing unauthorized medical acts (at the discretion of the Disciplinary Committee of IONC), or when registration ceases.

The Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) came into its broadest effect as of January 1,2004. It sets out 10 Principles to cover the collection, use and disclosure of Personal Information by any business.
